Usually, by going to the store it is possible to try on the shoes before buying them, in order to choose the model and size of your liking. But what to do with online purchases? Choosing the perfect shoe size becomes a problem. But is it worth giving up a pair of shoes that are a bit tight when you can easily stretch them ?
There are many different methods and you have to choose the right one according to the type of footwear: leather shoes widen differently from sneakers!
HOW TO STRETCH SHOES AT HOME?
Generally, we wear shoes when we have to go somewhere or for special events. Tight shoes in this case ruin our day! The most trivial way to prevent this from happening is: to wear them all the time!
When you use shoes, the materials gradually spread out. Obviously, this solution will only work if the shoes are not excessively tight. It will take a couple of days for the shoes to stretch without water or other tools.
USE A HAIRDRYER
This method is best suited if you are looking to make leather shoes wider. You will need to use a pair of heavy socks and a simple hair dryer. The heat will loosen the skin which will shape itself better on the foot.
Put on one or two pairs of socks (better if heavy!)
Then put on your shoes and turn on the hairdryer at maximum power. Move it constantly on different points of the shoe so as not to overheat any point and thus prevent the leather from being damaged. Continue like this until you feel less pressure on your foot.
I tried this method with a pair of booties that were a bit tight at the toe. After a couple of minutes, I started to feel a lot more room to move my fingers. So I took off the extra pair of socks and the boots fit perfectly!

PUT THEM IN THE FREEZER
Putting your shoes in the freezer seems crazy. But when the water freezes, it expands. Easy!
Fill a plastic bag with about one-third of the volume. Close it carefully leaving some space at the top. Then insert it inside the shoe all the way to the tip. Put your shoes in the freezer and wait for them to freeze. Then take them out and wait for them to thaw. Repeat this process until the shoes have reached your preferred size.
Ideal for: pointy shoes, sneakers, and other non-leather shoes
Sneakers are used when running, in the gym, or in sports in general. In these cases, it is important that the foot is comfortable and that the shoe fits well. Wearing shoes that are too tight in this case will irreparably damage the foot.
So what is the best way to widen your sneakers?
The best solution to avoid damaging the shoes is to insert some fabric (simple socks will be fine) until the shoe is completely filled and leave it like that for the whole night.
